The District City Congress Committee, Sagar, on Friday strongly accused the BJP governments at the Centre and in Madhya Pradesh of attacking people’s basic rights and weakening democracy.

Addressing a press conference, District City Congress President Mahesh Jatav said that rising unemployment, loss of labour rights, unsafe drinking water and alleged manipulation of voter lists have become the most serious current issues facing the country.

Top Priority Issues Raised:

1. Threat to Employment and MNREGA:
Mahesh Jatav said the BJP-led central government is weakening the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), which once gave poor rural families a legal right to work.

He alleged that changes in the scheme, low wages, no budget increase despite inflation, and strict rules like mandatory apps and Aadhaar-based payments have deprived nearly 2 crore workers of employment.

Congress demanded restoration of legal job guarantee and an increase in daily wages to ₹400.

Calling the Indore water contamination incident an “administrative massacre”, Congress leaders said it is shocking that people are dying after drinking polluted water in a city ranked number one in cleanliness.

They blamed corruption, poor planning and negligence for mixing of drinking water and drainage lines, despite spending crores of rupees.

3. Alleged Voter List Manipulation (SIR):
Congress termed the deletion of around 40,000 names from the Sagar Assembly voter list a major democratic issue. Mahesh Jatav alleged this was a case of “vote theft” and questioned why officials involved in adding and deleting names were not punished. The party said such actions directly harm free and fair elections.

4. Centralised Control and Contractor System:
State Congress spokesperson Dr Sandeep Sablok alleged that new changes in MNREGA are bringing back the contractor system, reducing the powers of village panchayats and shifting decisions to Delhi, which hurts local workers.

Political Action Ahead:
Senior leader Amit Ramji Dubey announced a statewide movement under the leadership of MP Congress President Jitu Patwari, starting with a major protest in Indore on January 11, against what Congress called the BJP’s “three-way failure” — jobs, basic services and voting rights.

Leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation, Babu Singh Babbu Yadav, warned of a large protest in cities over pipeline leakages and contaminated water, saying repeated warnings to civic bodies have been ignored.

Congress leaders said they will take these issues directly to the public, calling them matters of livelihood, health and democracy, which cannot be ignored any longer.

Once regarded as the second-in-command during former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s tenure, senior BJP leader and Khurai MLA Bhupendra Singhwho served as Home Minister in the previous cabinet—appears to be voicing his discontent after being left out of the current cabinet formation.

Speaking at a Diwali Milan event in Baghraj Ward, Singh delivered a philosophically loaded speech centered on “values, culture, and morality.” However, Seasoned political observers see it as a subtle reflection of his current disenchantment and an indirect commentary on the shifting power equations within the BJP.

Without directly naming anyone, Singh criticized opportunistic politics, asserting that it weakens democracy and erodes public faith in the political system—a remark that many interpret as a veiled attack on his intra-party rival.  Who, before long, defected from the Congress.

His statement that “politics should be a medium of service, not self-gain” was widely read as an expression of ideological frustration over recent developments within the state’s political landscape.

Throughout his address, Singh emphasized that character, values, and culture form the foundation of life, arguing that wealth is meaningless without moral grounding.

In a speech blending cultural conservatism and social commentary, he invoked mythological references such as Abhimanyu's learning in the womb, stressing the role of mothers in nurturing values and condemning the modern obsession with mobile phones and materialism.

Sagar Watch News

In political terms, Singh’s remarks carry undertones of moral positioning and self-reassertion—an attempt to project himself as a custodian of traditional BJP values and public service ethics at a time when he feels marginalized in the current power setup

His critique of “corrupt and opportunistic politics” and appeal for “youth with character to enter public life” underscores his effort to reclaim ideological relevance amid shifting loyalties and internal rivalries.

While maintaining a public tone of cultural and social reform, Bhupendra Singh’s speech reflects a deeper sentiment—a senior leader seeking to reaffirm his political stature in an environment where his once-commanding influence within the party has notably diminished.

Voting for Congress is like a betrayal of the country. Congress has neglected and exploited the poor during its 60 years of rule, which is why Congress was destroyed due to the abuse of the poor. Whereas BJP changed the lives of the poor in the country in ten years. These views were expressed by MLA Bhupendra Singh while addressing the general meeting organized in support of BJP candidate Lata Wankhede in Malthon.

Shri Singh said that today Congress is nowhere to be seen in the country. Nobody wants to be in Congress. 4 lakh Congress workers in the state have left the party and joined BJP. For Bhartiya Janta Party the resolution letter is like a holy book. BJP has completed about 90% of the issues in its manifesto issued in Lok Sabha elections 2014 and 2019.

On these lines, the resolution letter for the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2024 will be prepared with the suggestions of the voters in the direction of developing India and making India a world leader.

These Thoughts were Expressed by BJP's District President While having Formal discussion with Media in a press conference organised, on thursday, in a private hotel, today.

BJP organized this press conference to take suggestions from the public regarding preparing the manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections.

However, this event of BJP seemed more like a one-sided dialogue program of the party than a press conference. Local BJP officials avoided the questions of journalists in the program and after giving their views, they ended the program by showing their gratitude.

Bharatiya Janata Party officials - BJP District President Gourav Sirothia, District General Secretary Shyam Tiwari,State Minister Prabhudayal Patel, State Convener of BJP Intellectual Cell Anurag Pyasi, Dr. Sukhdev Mishra State Co-ordinator of BJP Law Cell Roshan Singh, District Media Incharge Shrikant Jain, Alok Kesarwani and a large number of party workers were present in the press conference.

One of the questions that is currently creating turmoil in the minds of people in Madhya Pradesh is whether their MLA will get a place in the cabinet or not? Even in the gatherings held on the streets, people are acting as analysts and counting the names of ministers on various grounds.

In such group discussions, there seems to be almost consensus on one issue that this time the final approval on the names of the cabinet has to be given from Delhi only. After coming to power in Madhya Pradesh with a huge majority, such a situation seems to be emerging due to the strengthening of the grip of the central leadership of the party on the state.

Now what image of the old ministers is being presented in the Delhi court? In the effort to simplify the caste arithmetic, which MLA's claim is becoming stronger? And how much influence of leaders considered powerful is being felt there? These are some of the factors that can spoil the process of final selection of cabinet names.

Many types of claims are being made by politicians like - one MLA from every district can get a chance to become a minister, while someone is saying that one MLA from every assembly will get a chance, while someone is saying that from two districts One of the MLAs will get a place in the cabinet.

Some fun-loving political players are also saying that no matter who gets a place in the cabinet, this time it is difficult for them to get the same freedom to work which the ministers have enjoyed in the previous tenures. This time the ministers may have to work according to the strict instructions of Modi's office.

A section of politicians believe that Jyotiraditya Scindia's influence is still intact. Right now his name is being mentioned at the top in the list of Modi ji's favorite leaders.

Due to which his two trusted commanders Govind Singh Rajput and Tulsi Silavat may get an important role in the cabinet. If this does not happen then Scindia may face serious embarrassment.

Kailash Vijayvargiya, Prahlad Patel, Rakesh Singh are some such strong faces that without their presence, formation of a strong cabinet does not seem possible. However, in the exercise of achieving regional balance, the possibility of some new faces and MLAs who have won for the first time getting a place in the cabinet cannot be ruled out.

At the same time, Modi's displeasure with Shivraj Singh is not hidden. Modi is said to be very angry with the way Shivraj started the practice of distributing government money under the guise of welfare schemes giving free benefits.

For this reason, even the MLAs who are considered close and trustworthy to Shivraj are being doubted about being given priority place in the cabinet. However, the ministers of Shivraj camp seem quite confident about getting an important role in the cabinet.

Apart from this, due to the policy of including young people in the cabinet, new MLAs can get an opportunity in the cabinet. Due to which some old senior MLAs who have been ministers several times can be made to sit at home.

At the same time, leaders considered capable and active among them can also be given a role in the organization, either in the state or at the Centre.

In the list of leaders who have been enjoying power for a long time, Gopal Bhargava's name is being taken at the top. According to the consummate politicians, there are very few people who say that Bhargava ji's name is not in the list of leaders who had to make a lot of efforts to get the ticket.

There are also speculation that in case the leaders who are trying to get a berth in the cabinet are not successful, they will sit quietly on the assurance that one of their relatives will be given an Assembly or Lok Sabha ticket or some lucrative post in return.

Although the names of the cabinet will be revealed in a day or two, whatever its form is going to be revealed, it may prove to surprise people in many ways. Then leave alone common man, maybe the head of the state himself will say in his mind that what kind of cabinet is this?

Ever since the assembly election results came out in Madhya Pradesh, a round of speculation has started across the state. Everyone seems to be busy in calculation with their own understanding as to who will become the Chief Minister and will their MLA be able to get a place in the cabinet?

In Bundelkhand, people seem to be more active in this matter and why not? There were three cabinet ministers from this region in the state government that completed their tenure.

Apart from this, two ministers-Prahlad Patel and virendra Khatik- in the central government were also from Bundelkhand. Not only that, there were more than one MLA who considered himself a contender for the post of minister after winning two to three consecutive times.

In the recent election results, they all have won again. Now questions are being raised that how many public representatives from Bundelkhand will be given berth in the new cabinet? Doesn't it seem possible to make everyone a minister?

So the dilemma of which new one will get a place and which old one will be shown the way out is giving sleepless nights to the politicians who claim to have a grip on the pulse of politics.

In the elections held for the 16th Assembly in Madhya Pradesh, BJP has won 163 out of total 230 seats. In this victory, out of total 26 seats in Bundelkhand region, BJP has won 21 seats as compared to 17 seats last time. This means that the number of people staking claim to the cabinet from Bundelkhand in the government has further increased.

If we talk about the contenders of Bundelkhand region, then Govind Singh Rajput, who won from Surkhi assembly constituency, was till now the minister of two important ministries, Revenue and Transport Department, in the BJP government and now, albeit with difficulty, he has again won and got  a place in upcoming cabinet are hoping for.

Whereas Bhupendra Singh, who was the MLA from Khurai assembly constituency and is considered the most confidant of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was the Urban Development and Housing Minister and now after winning again, he remains a strong contender for the post of minister. Not only this, whenever there was a talk of change of leadership in the state, he also came into discussion as a contender for the post of Chief Minister.

Similarly, Gopal Bhargava, who has been winning from Rehli assembly constituency for eight times, has been continuously holding the post of minister in one department or the other. Now after winning for the ninth time, he is standing in the front row among the contenders for the post of minister.

Prahlad Patel, who was Minister of State in the Central Government after winning from Damoh parliamentary constituency, has now won from Narsinghpur assembly constituency this time and there are strong discussions about him being given the responsibility of the post of Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister.

If the issue of old age does not come in the way, then Jayant Malaiya, who won the election from Damoh, is also considered a strong deserve to get a place in the cabinet.

Harishankar Khatik has also won the elections for the third time from Jatara seat of Tikamgarh district, while Congress has won on the other two seats of the district despite the huge victory of BJP in the state. In such a situation, the party can consider giving benefits to Khatik also.

Other backward class woman leader Lalita Yadav, who defeated senior Congress leader Alok Chaturvedi (Pajjan Bhaiya) from Chhatarpur Assembly seat, is also said to be a contender for an important post in the new government.

Brijendra Pratap Singh, who has won the election from Panna assembly constituency for the second consecutive time, has also won from Pawai assembly constituency twice before. He has also been a minister in the BJP government. Their claims are being said to be no less than anyone else's.

Similar claim is being made by Anil Jain, who has won from Niwari assembly constituency three times in a row.

Sagar and Narayawali assembly MLAs Shailendra Jain and Pradeep Laria are also said to be strong contenders for getting a place in the cabinet after winning for the fourth consecutive time.

In the new BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, contenders from almost all the areas of the state are trying their best to get a place in the cabinet. But various drafts are also being discussed regarding what will be the form of cabinet and government in the state and what are the factors working in giving shape to that form.

A section of politicians is claiming that the BJP high command will form the cabinet through social engineering in an effort to woo all sections of the society in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Due to this, some old senior ministers may also have to be deprived of ministerial posts in the new BJP government and MLAs like Pradeep Laria, lalita yadav and Harishankar Khatik may also get a chance in the effort to solve caste equations.

But since the beginning of discussions about reshuffle in BJP months before the assembly elections, political commentators have been expressing apprehensions about Gujarat formula being implemented in the state.

Now once again discussions are being started about the formation of a new cabinet. Formulas have started jumping. He believes that this formula will decide the form of the new cabinet in the state and if this happens then no old face will be seen in the cabinet.

However, it will not take much time for the face of the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and the form of the cabinet to be revealed.

But still, the fierce battle going on in the state between the political stalwarts and those interested in speculation to establish themselves as political experts by throwing new tricks is likely not to stop before the formation of the cabinet finaly come up.
