Addressing the closing ceremony, Sagar MLA Shailendra Jain said that playing with true sports spirit takes athletes to their best potential, and the participation of players from Jammu to Kanyakumari was a matter of pride for Sagar.

Exciting matches were witnessed on Friday during the 69th National School Games as several league encounters in the girls’ and boys’ categories were played at City Stadium and Khel Parisar Ground, drawing keen interest from players, officials, and spectators.

In the girls’ category at City Stadium

Maharashtra registered a close 2–1 victory over Haryana. Vidya Bharati dominated the International Board with a 2–0 win, while Rajasthan edged past Kerala 2–1. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan defeated West Bengal 2–0, Telangana beat Chandigarh 2–0, and Tamil Nadu outplayed Jammu & Kashmir 2–0. In another match, Maharashtra defeated Vidya Bharati 2–0.

In the boys’ category at City Stadium

Haryana defeated CBSE 2–0, while Maharashtra secured a 2–0 win against the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). Andhra Pradesh won a closely fought contest against Madhya Pradesh 2–1.

Meanwhile, at the Khel Parisar Ground, 

Gujarat defeated Assam 2–1 in the girls’ category. The Council for Indian School defeated Punjab 2–0. In boys’ matches, Telangana beat Vidya Bharati 2–0, and Rajasthan defeated Delhi 2–0.

 The 69th National School Badminton Championship (Under-14 Boys and Girls) will commence in Sagar from December 17, with teams from various states across the country already arriving in the city. All necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the prestigious national-level event have been completed.

 IN Short

  • Championship to be held from December 17 in Sagar

  • Participation of around 440 student players and 220 officials, including observers, managers, and coaches

  • Matches to be conducted at three major venues in the city

  • Over 18 committees formed for event management and coordination

Extensive Preparations in Place

Joint Director of Public Education, Sagar Division, Shri Shatrunjay Pratap Singh, informed that comprehensive preparations have been ensured for the championship. 

More than a dozen committees have been established, comprising officers, principals, teachers, and sports instructors, with clear divisions of responsibilities. Special arrangements, including warm water, mattresses, and quilts, are being made keeping winter conditions in mind.

Health, Safety and Security Measures

As per the directions of Collector Shri Sandeep G.R., the Education Department has ensured robust health and safety arrangements:

  • Medical teams, ambulances, doctors, paramedical staff, and medicines will be available at all sports venues.

  • Regular inspection of all accommodation facilities by health department teams.

  • Five beds each are reserved at Bundelkhand Medical College and District Hospital for emergencies.

  • Anti-mosquito spraying, provision of warm water, bedding, and winter essentials at all accommodation sites.

  • Adequate police deployment at accommodation centres and sports grounds.

  • Special security arrangements for girl players, ensuring accompaniment by team managers and local representatives during movement.

Transport and Control Room  

Adequate bus services have been arranged for the movement of players and officials between accommodation sites, railway stations, and sports venues. A 24×7 control room is being set up with round-the-clock deployment of officers and staff to ensure seamless coordination throughout the event.

The district administration and education department are working in close coordination to ensure that the national championship is conducted in a safe, disciplined, and athlete-friendly environment, reflecting Sagar’s capability to successfully host major sporting events.

/ The district-level Asmita Athletics Competition was held today at the Sports Complex Ground, Sagar, witnessing enthusiastic participation from nearly 250 athletes in the under-14 and under-16 girls’ categories. 

The event featured multiple track and field disciplines, including the 60m and 600m races, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, and triathlon athletics, all conducted successfully.

Top performers from each category have now earned the opportunity to represent Sagar district in the upcoming National Athletics Championship.

During the closing ceremony, the chief guest, Sangeeta Tiwari, motivated the participants, urging them to achieve their goals through hard work, dedication, and consistent practice. She honoured all winners with certificates and medals.

The five-day 69th State-Level Taekwondo School Sports Competition began with an inspiring message from Collector Sandeep G.R., who encouraged students to play with honesty and sportsmanship. He emphasized that in sports, no one truly loses—setbacks only reflect areas for improvement, while persistence leads to success.

Joint Director of Public Education, Mrityunjay Kumar, highlighted the growing importance of balancing academics with sports, saying the old belief that playing spoils the future has now changed. Today, education along with sports builds champions.

District Education Officer Arvind Jain welcomed participants and shared details of the event, scheduled from September 8–12, 2025, featuring boys’ and girls’ taekwondo matches in the 14 and 17-year categories. Around 375 participants from divisions including Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Sagar, Ujjain, and the Tribal Welfare Department are competing.

On August 29, 2025, National Sports Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Hockey Turf Ground, Sports Complex, Sagar, in honor of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary. 

The three-day sports festival began on August 26 with a football match inaugurated by senior players, including Davinder Bhatia, Adv. Veenu Rana and District Football Association Secretary Vishal Tomar.

From August 27 to 29, a wide range of competitions were held, including kabaddi, basketball, mallakhamb, kho-kho, taekwondo, volleyball, athletics, badminton, table tennis, hockey, and water sports. Players from training centers and local schools actively participated.

The concluding ceremony on August 29 was graced by MLA Shailendra Jain, Collector Sandeep G.R., and Additional SP Lokesh Sinha. Guests paid tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, administered the Fit India pledge, and emphasized the importance of sports for fitness, discipline, and national pride. Distinguished athletes and awardees from various sports were also honored for their outstanding contributions.

After the event, the winners/runners-up of various sports competitions held from 26 August 2025 to 29 August 2025 were awarded.

Ayushi Agrawal from Sagar has won a bronze medal for India at the Asia-Africa-Pacific International Powerlifting Championship held in Himeji, Japan, by lifting 425 kg in the bench press event. 

Daughter of local jeweler Ashok Agrawal, Ayushi's achievement has brought pride to her family, city, and the country. 

This is the first time in Bundelkhand's history that a female athlete has won an international medal in powerlifting. She also broke her own previous record of lifting 417 kg.

Ayushi credits her success to three years of hard work and guidance from her coach Shailendra Edwin. She now aims to win gold for India in the upcoming World Championship and Commonwealth Games.

 Her journey in powerlifting began three years ago when she joined a gym while preparing for competitive exams. Her interest grew, and she found early success at district and divisional levels. She will return to Sagar on Thursday and begin preparations for future competitions.

 The confidential material of the Board of Secondary Education, Bhopal for the class 10th and 12th board examinations starting from February 5 was distributed on Thursday. The material distributed for 141 examination centers is currently under police protection.

In-charge District Education Officer Abhay Srivastava said that the distribution of confidential material has been done by Sudhir Tiwari, Principal of the Government School of Excellence, the coordination body of the division.

In the presence of top administrative officers of the district, 12 routes were prepared to send the confidential material from the examination center to the police stations related to it, where the confidential material is being sent through vehicles.

Budget 

Responding to the interim budget for the year 2024-25 presented in the Lok Sabha today, Khurai MLA called it a budget for nation building with the guarantee of a strong future.

Veerangana T20 Cricket Final Match 

Veerangana Nari Shakti Cup T20 National Cricket Tournament started on Thursday morning with the match for third and fourth place. It started with the flag hoisting in the chief hospitality of former Ranjit cricket player Praveen Lokras and Professor KK Rao.

In the match between Veerangana Rani Lakshmi Bai Warriors Uttar Pradesh and Veerangana Rani Gaidinliu Warriors Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, he scored 133 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. 

For Uttar Pradesh, Sanjana scored 37 runs and Shreya scored 25 runs. In response, Arunachal Pradesh team could score only 113 runs. Shabana from Arunachal Pradesh scored 29 runs, Diksha scored 15 runs and Sanjana from Uttar Pradesh took two wickets. Sanjana was the player of the match.

The final match of the Veerangana Nari Shakti Cup T20 National Cricket Tournament under the auspices of the Utsav Committee will start at 11 am on Friday, 2 February 2024. This will be the closing ceremony at 3:00 pm.

Sagar Watch / The first match of Veerangana Nari Shakti Cup T20 National Cricket Tournament was played on Tuesday morning between Veerangana Padmavati Fighters Delhi and Veerangana Kalpana Dutt Fighters West Bengal.

Delhi won the toss and chose to bowl. Batting first, West Bengal scored 123 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Khushboo Pathak scored 58 runs with 7 fours and 1 six. Chasing the target, West Bengal could score only 95 runs in 20 overs and Delhi won 28 matches. Shivam Pal of Bengal was the player of the match by taking maximum 6 wickets.

Today's second match took place between Veerangana Rani Lakshmi Bai Warriors Uttar Pradesh and Veerangana Rani Gaidinliu Warriors Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal Pradesh won the toss and decided to bowl first. While batting, Uttar Pradesh could score only 88 runs in 20 overs. 

Arunachal achieved the target of 89 runs in 19 overs by losing seven wickets. From her side, Riya was the player of the match, taking four wickets for nine runs in four overs.

The chief guests of this match were Umesh Tripathi, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Tax Officer Satna, social worker Navy Jain and advocate Yogesh Srivastava. He got the match started by tossing it.

Whereas the first match started with the flag hoisting in the chief hospitality of Mayor Sangeeta Tiwari and Nagar Nigam President Vrindavan Ahirwar.

The first match of Veerangana Nari Shakti Cup T-20 National Cricket Tournament took place on Monday between Veerangana Padmavati Fighters Delhi and Veerangana Rani Gaidinliu Warriors Arunachal Pradesh. Batting first, Delhi scored 101 runs in 20 overs losing 7 wickets. 

Arunachal Pradesh achieved this target in just 13.5 overs. He achieved the target of 102 runs by losing only 5 wickets. Tanu Kesarwani batted brilliantly for Arunachal Pradesh to achieve this victory. He scored a half century in 33 balls. He also hit seven fours and two sixes in his innings of 52 runs and was the player of the match.

Today's second match was played between Veerangana Rani Lakshmi Bai Warriors Uttar Pradesh and Veerangana Kalpana Dutt Fighters West Bengal. In this, Uttar Pradesh won the toss and batted first and scored 135 runs in 20 overs, losing seven wickets. Gitanjali Singh scored the maximum 37 runs on behalf of the team.

While chasing the target, West Bengal team could score only 70 runs in 12.5 overs. Uttar Pradesh won by 65 runs. For Uttar Pradesh, Kajal Singh performed brilliantly and took three wickets for 18 runs. Kajal Singh was the player of the match

 In the Veerangana Nari Shakti Cup T-20 National Cricket Tournament, Group B league matches started on the fourth day on Sunday. The first match took place between Veerangana Padmavati Fighters Delhi and Veerangana Lakshmi Bai Warriors Uttar Pradesh.

 In which Delhi won the toss and batted first and scored 100 runs losing 7 wickets. In which Soumya scored 30 runs and Shivangi scored 29 runs. While chasing the target, Uttar Pradesh team could score only 70 runs and lost the match by 30 runs.

The second match took place between Veerangana Rani Kalpana Dutt Fighters West Bengal and Veerangana Rani Gaidinliu Warriors Arunachal Pradesh. In which West Bengal won the toss and elected to bat and scored 93 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.

While chasing the target, Arunachal Pradesh team achieved the target of 94 runs in just 13 overs and lost only 3 wickets. In which Savanna Khan from Arunachal Pradesh scored 30 runs not out and Aradhana scored 38 runs. Player of the match was Shabana Khan.

Third Day..

Whereas on the third day of the competition, Sagar won in a walk over in the match played between Veerangana Lakshmi Arya Fighters and Veerangana Sahodra Rai Warriors.

The second match took place between Veerangana Rani Kamlapati Fighters Bhopal and Veerangana Rani Durgavati Warriors Rewa. In which Rewa won the toss and batted first and scored 134 runs with 7 wickets. In response to which Bhopal could score only 125 runs and Rewa won the match by 9 runs. Player of the match was Payal. Class A matches were completed on Saturday.

The organization of 10th State Level Departmental Officer Employees Badminton Table Tennis Competition of Madhya Pradesh Public Instruction Directorate has started from today at Sagar City Stadium. The competition was inaugurated by city MLA Shailendra Jain.

Teams from 10 divisions of the state are participating in this competition. A total of 150 male and female players participated in the competition. The competition will be held till January 30. All the competitions of table tennis and badminton will be held at City Stadium Sagar only.

According to District Sports Officer Sanjay Dadar, accommodation arrangements for male players who came from other divisions to participate in the competition have been made in Malaiya Marriage Garden and for female players in the hostel of Government School of Excellence, Sagar. Food arrangements for all the players have been made in Jain school.

The results of today's games of the competition were as follows.


Badminton

Men's category - Sagar was the winner in the match played between Sagar and DPI, 

while Rewa was the winner in the match played between Rewa and Jabalpur, 

Gwalior was the winner in the match between Gwalior and Bhopal and 

Rewa was the winner in Narmada Puram.

Women's category - Sagar was the winner in the match played between Sagar and Ujjain 

while DPI was the winner in the match against Rewa and DPI.


Table Tennis


Men's category - Bhopal was the winner in the match between Bhopal and Rewa.

Jabalpur was the winner in the match between Jabalpur and Tribal Department.

A match was played between Narmada Puram and Sagar in which Sagar was the winner.


Women's category - A match was played between Bhopal and Sagar in which Sagar was the winner. M

Match played between DP and Jabalpur in which Jabalpur was the winner. 

Semi Final

 The match will be played between Sagar and Jabalpur.

Sagar-based Shahbaz Division of the Indian Army organized a marathon race on Sunday on the 75th Republic Day. The marathon race was inaugurated by showing the flag in the presence of chief guest Major General Deepak Singh Vishisht Sena Medal War and many military officers. 

This program was dedicated to strengthening the spirit of healthy life, unity and coordination among Indian military personnel and civilians under Unity.

The youngest runner in this marathon was 10 year old student Master Inumun. Who covered the distance of 5 km in 24 minutes and got the first place. In the 05 km women's category, all three prizes were won by local girls of Sagar, in which Sheetal Kushwaha stood first with a time of 20 minutes.

More than 653 military personnel, civilians, women and school students participated in this program of Sagar Trail Run. These included 384 soldiers, 164 men/women and 105 women family members.

In this race, 12 km men/women and 05 km women and students participated in this race under different categories.

In the 12 km men category, constable Deepak Singh from 108 TA Mahar came first and completed the race in 40 minutes and in the 12 km women category, Divya, a local resident of Sagar, stood first in 45 minutes time.

The race was held on Vindhyachal Trails built by Shahbaz Division through the trails and streams of the natural forest of Sagar.

This race was more than a marathon race, it was a cross country run, which was organized on very difficult and inaccessible roads. In which the runners also enjoyed the beauty.

Prizes were distributed to the winners by the chief guests. The event ended with Zumba, prize distribution and food. The Unity Run has promoted the confidence and unity of citizens in the armed forces.

All the people of Sagar region welcomed this trail run organized by the Indian Army and expressed hope that such events will continue to be organized for the spirit of unity and harmony.

Veerangana Nari Shakti Cup Cricket Tournament on Thursday morning,inaugrated in the presence of  Chief Guest Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's Provincial Executive Sunil Dev, Special Guest Shailendra Jain, MLA Sagar and Program Chairman Manohar Lal Chaurasia, Committee Convener Rajkumar Sumreddy, Manager Dr. Umesh Saraf, Committee Chairman Amit Kesarwani Veerangana and  Vahini President Kamleshwari Mishra.

On this occasion, program coordinator Rajkumar Sumreddy said that Utsav Samiti Sagar works for social awareness through religious and social events. The committee is now organizing the National Leather Children's Cricket Competition for girls in sports also.

Keynote speaker Sunil Ji Dev said in his address that the increasing participation of mother power in sports is commendable. India's mother power is making its name on the world stage by setting records. 

In the same sequence, the Utsav Committee is giving a good message to the country and society by organizing a national event in Sagar. This is the first women's leather wall cricket tournament in the history of Sagar. Veerangana Vahini Utsav Committee deserves thanks for this.

Opening Match

The first match between Veerangana Sahodar Rai Warriors Sagar and Veerangana Rani Durgavati Warriors Rewa started at 10 am. Rani Durgavati Warriors Rewa won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, they scored 162 runs losing one wicket in the stipulated 20 overs. Two players of the team, Muskaan, remained not out after scoring 66 runs and Vaishnavi 56 runs.

Aditi took one wicket from Sagar. In reply, Veerangana Sahodra Rai Warriors were all out for 92 runs while chasing the target. For Sagar, Chhavi scored 37 runs and Riya scored 42 runs. From Rewa, Muskaan and Kajal took two wickets each. The player of the match was Muskaan from Rewa. Who scored 66 runs and took two wickets.

The second match took place at 1 pm between Veerangana Rani Kamlapati Fighter Bhopal and Veerangana Lakshmi Arya Fighter Haryana. Haryana won the toss and batted first and scored 138 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. 

In response to which Bhopal Team achieved its target in 15 overs. They scored only 114 runs after losing  one wicket. Bhopal Team Player Anshulika scored the highest 65 runs and became the player of the match.
