Marking his birthday with a strong conservation push, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will release a dozen turtles into the Bamner River at the Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve on Wednesday, while also laying the foundation for a soft-release enclosure to facilitate the reintroduction of cheetahs.

The Chief Minister’s visit underscores the state’s expanding wildlife conservation agenda, with the reserve emerging as a key hub for biodiversity and future eco-tourism.

Key Points :

  • Wildlife Conservation Drive: Around a dozen turtles will be released into the Bamner River to strengthen aquatic biodiversity.
  • Cheetah Reintroduction Plan: Foundation stone to be laid for a “soft release boma,” a crucial step for rehabilitating cheetahs in the reserve.
  • Largest Tiger Reserve in MP: Spread across 2,339 sq km, the reserve connects 72 villages across Sagar, Damoh and Narsinghpur districts.
  • Tiger Population: Currently home to 32 tigers, reinforcing its importance in big cat conservation.
  • ‘Land of Wolves’: Known for having one of the highest populations of wolves in the region.
  • Rich Avifauna: Hosts over 240 species of birds, making it a major attraction for bird watchers.
  • Diverse Wildlife: Habitat to tiger, leopard, wolf, bear, jackal, hyena, fox, nilgai, blackbuck, chinkara, crocodile, and more.
  • Cheetah Habitat Potential: The terrain is considered suitable for cheetahs, similar to landscapes found in South Africa, with plans to relocate animals from Kuno National Park.
  • Recent Recognition: Declared a tiger reserve in 2023, it is Madhya Pradesh’s 7th and India’s 54th such reserve.
  • Tourism & Jobs: The reserve holds significant potential for eco-tourism and local employment generation.

Officials say the combined initiatives—from species reintroduction to habitat strengthening—signal a long-term vision to transform the reserve into a flagship wildlife destination in central India

Fresh government directives and emergency reviews over LPG distribution across Madhya Pradesh suggest that the ongoing cooking gas crisis in the state is deepening.

While authorities claim supplies are adequate, the scale of enforcement drives, monitoring committees, and appeals against panic booking indicate a reactive approach that critics say may be worsening confusion and pushing the situation further out of control.

The state government has intensified action against alleged black marketing and hoarding of LPG cylinders while simultaneously urging consumers not to panic amid rising concerns over supply disruptions.

Key Developments

  • Statewide crackdown: Authorities conducted raids at 1,025 locations, seizing 1,357 LPG cylinders and registering 8 FIRs related to black marketing and hoarding.

  • Monitoring committee formed: A six-member state-level committee has been constituted to coordinate with oil companies and monitor the supply of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders.

  • Daily reviews ordered: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput have directed officials to conduct daily reviews of LPG supply and distribution.

  • District collectors on alert: All collectors have been instructed to take immediate action on complaints of delay or irregularities in cylinder distribution and ensure timely supply to consumers.

  • Advisory against panic booking: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has urged citizens not to panic book LPG cylinders and to use digital platforms such as mobile apps, SMS, WhatsApp, and IVRS for bookings instead of visiting agencies.

  • Incoming LPG shipments: Two LPG cargo ships from the Strait of Hormuz are expected to arrive at Kandla and Mundra ports around March 16–17, aimed at stabilizing supply.

  • Stock assurance: Oil company officials claim adequate cylinder stock is available at 11 bottling plants and distributor warehouses across the state.

  • Usage advisory: Commercial users have been advised to use available LPG stock judiciously and switch to alternative fuels such as PNG where available.

  • Refill guidance: Consumers have been asked to book refills only after 25 days from their last refill to prevent unnecessary pressure on supply.

Officials have also warned district administrations to curb misinformation and rumors that could trigger panic among consumers. Helpline numbers of major LPG providers have been activated for complaints and assistance.

Despite these assurances, the growing administrative urgency and multiple advisories highlight the seriousness of the situation as authorities struggle to contain the escalating LPG supply anxiety across the state.

In a sweeping disciplinary action exposing financial irregularities, administrative lapses and misconduct within government schools, Sagar Division Commissioner Anil Suchari has ordered the immediate suspension of two principals and one teacher from three districts.

The officials have been punished for alleged financial mismanagement, irregular recruitment of guest teachers, violation of hostel rules, misconduct with staff and repeated disciplinary issues, highlighting serious concerns about governance and oversight in parts of the education department.

The action follows inquiry reports submitted by district authorities and education department officials, which found prima facie evidence of irregularities and misconduct.

Suspension of Bhangarh School In-Charge Principal

Deepchandra Chaudhary, in-charge principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Bhangarh in Bina block of Sagar district, has been suspended following serious allegations of financial and administrative irregularities.

The action was taken on the proposal of the Joint Director of Public Instruction, Sagar Division, after an inquiry conducted by a team constituted by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Bina.

The inquiry report confirmed several irregularities, including:

  • Serious financial irregularities in school management

  • Irregular recruitment of guest teachers in violation of rules

  • Unauthorized entry into Kasturba Girls’ Hostel at Bhangarh under inappropriate circumstances

  • Indecent behaviour with female teachers

  • Illegal appointment of a hostel warden in a hostel run under the Samagra Shiksha scheme

Teacher Suspended in Niwari for Indiscipline

In Niwari district, Higher Secondary School teacher Neetika Tiwari, posted at Government Higher Secondary School, Puchhikar Guwan, has also been suspended for persistent indiscipline and disputes with colleagues.

According to the district administration, an inquiry conducted by a committee formed by the District Education Officer found that:

  • The teacher frequently engaged in disputes with school staff

  • The behaviour caused mental harassment among colleagues

  • Academic work in the school was being affected

  • Her conduct was not cooperative or harmonious with the staff

Khajuraho Principal Suspended for Recruitment Irregularities

Another action was taken in Chhatarpur district, where Principal Ganesh Yadav, posted at Government Higher Secondary School, Khajuraho, has been suspended over irregularities.

An inquiry ordered by the district collector revealed that while serving as principal at Government Higher Secondary School, Daharra, during academic sessions 2018–19 and 2019–20, Yadav allegedly:

  • Manipulated the guest teacher selection process

  • Committed financial irregularities during administrative operations

What the Incident Reveals About the Education Department

The suspensions underscore recurring governance issues in parts of the school education system, particularly related to guest teacher recruitment, financial transparency, hostel management and staff discipline.

The cases indicate a pattern of irregular appointments, weak institutional oversight and delayed disciplinary action, often detected only after formal complaints trigger inquiries by district administrations.

Officials say the latest action signals a tighter administrative crackdown on misconduct and financial mismanagement in government schools across the Sagar division.

Key Points

  • 3 education officials suspended across Sagar division

  • Charges include financial irregularities, misconduct, indiscipline and illegal recruitment

  • Inquiry reports submitted by district-level investigation teams

  • Action ordered by Sagar Division Commissioner

  • Case exposes systemic loopholes in guest teacher appointments and school administration
