The Council of Ministers has granted in-principle approval to develop Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve, Nauradehi, located in Sagar district, as the third habitat for cheetahs in Madhya Pradesh.

Notably, India’s cheetah reintroduction program has been progressing in phases. The first cheetah habitat was established at Kuno National Park, Sheopur, in September 2022, followed by the second habitat launched in April 2025 at Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary, Mandsaur.

According to official data, Madhya Pradesh currently hosts 31 cheetahs28 in Kuno National Park and 2 in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. The state’s cheetah population is expected to grow further, as eight additional cheetahs from Botswana are likely to arrive in Kuno by January 2026.

With the Cabinet’s approval, Nauradehi is now set to play a crucial role in expanding and strengthening India’s ambitious cheetah conservation initiative.

In a classic example of how official communication can lose track of time — quite literally — the district Janasampark Department has issued a press note announcing a programme held on the first Tuesday of December, a day which, amusingly, was 6 days ago.

To add to the comedy, the release claims the event took place under the guidance of District Programme Officer Brajesh Tripathi, who, according to records, was transferred from Sagar nearly six months ago

Sagar Watch News
. A remarkable display of efficiency in recycling old content.

Despite the confusion, the press note highlights the district administration’s efforts for maternal and child welfare. The release states that Collector Sandeep G.R. is committed to ensuring that every eligible child and pregnant woman receives essential services through Anganwadi centres to build a healthier community.

A Tradition of Motherhood Comes Alive at the Anganwadi Centre

According to the Official Press Release (Released ON 8 Dec 2025, Dateline), A Godh Bharai (baby shower) programme was organised Today, on The First Tuesday (actually, which was on 2 Dec, 5 days ago)at Anganwadi Centre No. 77, located in Bagharaj Ward of Sagar city. The event was reportedly held under the guidance of District Programme Officer Brajesh Tripathi (presently serving as a DPO of Ujjain). On this occasion, Anganwadi worker Reshma Chourasia led the ceremony, inviting pregnant women to the centre, where traditional rituals were performed, and nutritional supplements were distributed.

During the programme, Chourasia also shared information on maternal health, nutrition and the importance of regular antenatal check-ups to ensure safe pregnancy and healthy childbirth.

As per state guidelines, Anganwadi centres conduct scheduled activities every Tuesday — including Godh Bharai on the first Tuesday, Annaprashan on the second, birthday celebrations on the third and Kishori Balika Diwas on the fourth. Alongside these activities, ICDS continues to provide regular services such as supplementary nutrition, informal education, immunisation and health counselling.

She added that the efforts reflect a commitment to the holistic development of vulnerable groups, particularly children, pregnant women and adolescent girls.

Madhya Pradesh has taken a major step toward a digital revolution in food storage management. With the launch of three new mobile applications—Inspection App, Moisture Measurement App, and Fumigation App—the state aims to make grain storage transparent, efficient, and corruption-free.

These apps will digitally monitor activities previously handled manually, helping ensure citizens receive safe and high-quality food grains. Experts say this initiative reflects the future of food storage: technology-driven, real-time monitored, and fully accountable systems.

Hot Spots

  • Launch of three digital monitoring apps for warehouse management.

  • Real-time updates and location-based tracking.

  • Better grain quality control and prevention of spoilage.

  • Increased transparency and accountability in the supply chain.

Government’s Vision: Transparency and Quality First

Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Minister, during the launch event in Gwalior, said the government’s priority is ensuring the public receives high-quality grains. Every step—from warehouse inspection to moisture testing and fumigation—will now be digitally recorded and tracked.

“There will be zero compromise on transparency, quality, and accountability,” Rajput said.

How the New Apps Will Work

1. Inspection App

This app will ensure real-time and location-based monitoring of warehouses.

  • Inspections will happen according to a schedule created by the Bhopal headquarters.

  • One warehouse branch will be inspected by officers from another branch to ensure cross-verification.

  • The app will only allow uploads when the officer is physically within 100 meters of the warehouse—ensuring genuine on-site inspections.

  • Photo evidence and digital entries will automatically upload to a central portal.

👉 This eliminates manipulation and false reporting.

2. Moisture Measurement App

Grain moisture levels are critical to prevent spoilage. So far, this was recorded manually—leaving room for errors.

With the new system:

  • A Digital Moisture Meter will record moisture from three layers — the top, middle, and bottom of the grain stack.

  • Monthly moisture reports will be stored in real-time on the app.

  • Digital receipts from the meter must be uploaded as proof.

District managers will also be able to directly share this data with the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

👉 This helps maintain grain quality and prevents waste.

3. Fumigation App

Fumigation protects stored food grains from pests and insects.

  • Every step—from covering the stock to spraying chemicals and removing covers—must be photographed and logged.

  • The stock cannot be issued unless the fumigation is confirmed successful in the app.

  • Only authorized representatives can conduct the fumigation.

👉 This ensures food safety and protects consumer health.

What Does This Mean for the Future of Food Storage in MP?

With these apps, Madhya Pradesh is moving toward a smart storage ecosystem, where:

  • Decisions are based on data—not paperwork.

  • Spoilage, leakage, and corruption are minimized.

  • Monitoring is automated, accurate, and instant.

Industry experts believe this model could become a benchmark for other states and eventually reshape India’s food safety and grain storage systems.

In Short:

The launch of these digital tools marks a defining moment for Madhya Pradesh’s food supply chain. Beyond monitoring warehouses, the real impact lies in safer grains, better transparency, and improved public trust.

If implemented successfully, this technology-driven model could set a new standard for food storage across India—making public distribution smarter, safer, and corruption-free.

Even after multiple surprise inspections, salary deductions, and official warnings, absenteeism among teachers in government schools continues to rise — raising questions about accountability, work culture, and monitoring mechanisms.

Under ongoing instructions to ensure mandatory e-attendance and punctual presence of teachers, a fresh round of inspections was conducted on December 4, 2025, by the District Education Officer across Shahgarh and Banda blocks.

Surprise Inspection :

  • Multiple teachers were found absent during school hours despite mandatory digital attendance rules.

  • Students were present, but teachers were missing in several schools.

  • Some teachers were present but had not signed the attendance registers.

  • In one school, no students were present at all, and the in-charge received a show-cause notice.

  • Instances of students roaming unsupervised indicate a lack of discipline and monitoring.

Schools With Major Violations Identified:

Sagar Watch News

In Bijri, three teachers were absent, students were found wandering in the premises, and disciplinary action has been initiated, including a one-day salary deduction and suspension of one annual increment.

At Kanti school, although teachers were present, the building was found dilapidated, dirty, and with stray animals inside, prompting a show-cause notice to the in-charge along with instructions to run the school in a single shift for better supervision.

Second Phase of Inspection (Malthoun Block):

Led by Assistant Director M.K. Chadhar, inspections at four schools found widespread absenteeism at:

While Basera and Pithaoria schools were operating normally, several teachers in other schools were marked absent without permission.

Administrative Action Taken:

  • One-day salary deduction for all absent permanent staff.

  • Show-cause notices issued for withholding annual increments.

  • Last warning issued to guest teachers with direction to appear at the DEO office to justify absence.

The crackdown highlights a persistent issue: discipline mechanisms exist, but compliance remains weak. The education department is continuing strict monitoring — but the larger question remains: Why are repeated inspections not changing behaviour?

Officials say the monitoring drive will continue until attendance culture improves.

In a significant disciplinary move showcasing how even senior officers can become careless in duty, Deputy Collector and former District Coordinator of the Tribal Affairs Department, Damoh, Brijesh Singh, has been suspended with immediate effect. The action was taken by the District Collector, Damoh.

According to the suspension order, Singh allegedly approved the purchase of substandard material for Scheduled Caste hostels during the 2024–25 session.

The procurement was made based on demand letters received from hostel superintendents, but the material quality was reportedly below acceptable standards.

Additionally, mandatory compliance under Rule 17.4 of the Madhya Pradesh Store Purchase and Service Procurement Rules 2015 (amended 2022) was not followed.

The order further states that Singh failed to submit mandatory quality reports of purchased items to the procurement agency via email or e-portal within seven days, as required.

Lapses were also recorded in the supervision of procurement procedures, including the mismanagement of roles assigned on the Government’s GEM portal to Assistant Grade-3 employees.

Authorities noted that the purchases were carried out without necessary inspection, violating procedural guidelines and falling under the category of financial irregularity. Singh’s conduct was found to be in breach of the provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Conduct Rules, 1965.

As a result, he has been suspended under Rule 9 of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966. The suspension highlights the administration’s stance on enforcing accountability in public procurement and service delivery.
