Bundelkhand Nirman Morcha President Bhanu Sahay, addressing a press conference, said that people of the Bundelkhand region have been demanding a separate state for years. He recalled that in 2014, a promise was made to the public to create a separate Bundelkhand state, which led the people of the region to extend strong support to the government.

Sahay said that after the conclusion of the yatra on March 15, effigies of leaders who went back on their promise of forming Bundelkhand state would be burnt as a mark of protest. He expressed disappointment that even after 12 years, the promise remains unfulfilled, leaving the people of Bundelkhand feeling betrayed.

He pointed out that the region continues to suffer from serious problems such as unemployment, poverty, drought, migration, and lack of adequate education and healthcare facilities. According to him, a permanent solution to these issues is not possible without the formation of a separate Bundelkhand state. Repeated assurances without concrete action, he said, amount to a breach of public trust.

Bhanu Sahay informed that the first phase of the public anger Rath Yatra (Jan Aakrosh Rath Yatra) will be undertaken from February 16 to March 13, starting from Vanvasi Ram in Chitrakoot and concluding at Ram Raja Sarkar’s feet in Orchha Dham. The yatra will pass through Chitrakoot, Banda, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Lalitpur, Datia, Orai, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Chhatarpur, Niwari, Jhansi Dehat, Jhansi, and Orchha.

He said the yatra aims to mobilize nearly one lakh committed Bundeli volunteers from every village and hamlet of the region. During the yatra, the “Ram Ko Call” (Oath in the name of Lord Ram) campaign will be restarted to expose public representatives who do not support the demand for a Bundelkhand state. This time, participants will also take an oath with Ganga water.

Sahay warned that public representatives who oppose the formation of the Bundelkhand state will be politically defeated in the upcoming elections. He added that leaders who raise the issue only during election time will no longer be accepted. “Those who are not with Bundelkhand are of no use,” he asserted.
