Sagar Watch: Opinion

Recently, the Yogi Adityanath government has ordered a full-scale audit of teacher qualifications in private schools that charge high fees. And honestly, this move was long overdue.
Because for years, private schools across India have been selling “premium education” like a luxury product — with glossy buildings, fancy brochures, “international” names — while quietly running classrooms on the backs of under-qualified, under-paid teachers. Parents pay ₹1–3 lakh per year, but many teachers don’t even earn ₹10,000–₹15,000/month.
- Don’t meet qualification norms
- They are hired cheaply to increase profit margins
- Lack of training, language proficiency, and pedagogical skills
- Are overworked and underpaid
- 70–80% of revenue should legally go to teacher salaries.
- In reality? Often **less than 40%** is spent on teaching staff.
- The rest goes into management pockets, unnecessary infrastructure, or expansion.
- Lowest salary expectations
- Personal recommendations
- Teachers are hired like cheap labour
- Schools run unchecked
- Parents are financially exploited
- Children receive compromised learning
- Taking parents for granted
- Selling dreams at premium prices
- Running schools like profit centres
- Ignoring teacher welfare
- Compromising the future of millions of children
- It’s time for accountability.
- It’s time for transparency.
- It’s time for India to fix its education system from the roots.
