Begins at  Dr. Harisingh Gour University

This event is like a big meeting where smart people study how our minds work and how that can make India better. They said success needs three powers — thinking smart (IQ), feeling smart (EQ), and being kind and spiritual (SQ). It’s a way to build not just strong people, but a strong nation.

The importance of understanding the psychology of different age groups was the key message shared by Dr. Rekha Bakshi, the keynote speaker, at the third regional conference of the National Academy of Psychology (NAOP), jointly organized with the Department of Psychology’s first international conference at Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar.

💡 Success = IQ + EQ + SQ

Dr. Bakshi said that true success in life comes from the balance of three types of intelligence:

  • IQ (Intelligence Quotient): Your ability to think, learn, and solve problems.

  • EQ (Emotional Quotient): Your ability to understand and manage emotions—your own and others’.

  • SQ (Spiritual Quotient): Your inner sense of purpose, values, and connection to others.

She emphasized that understanding human behavior across different ages—children, youth, and adults—is essential for personal growth and building a healthier society.

🧠 Theme for a Progressive India

Conference convener Dr. Sanchita Meena introduced the central theme:
“Manmaking to Nation Building – Psychological Sciences for Sustainable Health and Well-being for Viksit Bharat @2047.”
She explained that the focus is on using psychology to promote mental health, sustainability, and national progress as India moves toward its centenary year of independence.

🌱 Insight Over Foresight

Co-patron Prof. Diwakar Singh Rajput highlighted that real progress depends not just on foresight (looking ahead), but on insight—understanding ourselves and others deeply. He stressed that sustainability must be rooted in humanity and a healthy mind.

🕊 Lessons from the Past, Vision for the Future

Prof. Sanjay Kumar, General Secretary of NAOP, traced the academy’s journey since its founding in 1991, a time when society was facing divisions and conflicts. He noted that even in today’s digital era, India still faces challenges like educational inequality, caste discrimination, and poverty, and said the youth hold the key to resolving them.

🌟 “Be the Thinkers,” Urges Vice-Chancellor

Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Y.S. Thakur spoke about the power of positive thinking in nation-building.
He remarked, “There are three kinds of people in the world — those who talk about others, those who talk about events, and those who talk about ideas. Be the ones who talk about ideas.”

🎓 Academic Exchange Beyond Borders

The two-day conference formally began after the inauguration. Researchers from various Indian universities are presenting their studies, while professors and students from international universities are participating virtually via video conferencing, marking a global exchange of ideas in psychological science.
