Sagar Watch News/ In a thought-provoking reflection on human psychology and the nation’s current moral drift, international Kathavachak Param Pujya Indresh Upadhyay Ji said that “relationships are meaningful only when they connect us to the divine,” adding pointedly that “the true leader is the one who leads you closer to God.”
His remarks came on Day Two of the ongoing Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at Siddh Kshetra Balaji Mandir, where MLA Shailendra Kumar Jain and Anushree Jain joined the evening aarti as chief yajmans. Former minister Jayant Mallaiya, ADG Anvesh Mangalam and Sunil Dev were also present.
Upadhyay Ji stressed the transformative power of satsang, saying that cow, Brahmin and fire share the same spiritual lineage, and whatever is offered to them reaches Thakur Ji directly. He reminded devotees that anything obstructing one’s spiritual progress — even close relationships — must be renounced.
Highlighting the bond that Bageshwar Dham Peethadhishwar Pt. Dhirendra Krishna Shastri shares with Sagar he said it was a blessing that the city received the opportunity for another Katha within six months. “If representatives and devotees everywhere showed such devotion, the entire atmosphere would become Radha-Krishna-may,” he remarked.
Citing the devotion of Orchha’s King Madhukar Shah and his Ram-bhakt queen, he said true religion is that which ensures the welfare of all. He further asserted that the Bhagwat is not limited to Hindus, but is a text for the upliftment of Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and all humanity. Quoting former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he said that when a person’s conduct is pure, their religion becomes irrelevant.
Upadhyay Ji urged people to speak sweet truth, see basic human needs also as part of dharma, yet ultimately prioritise the welfare of the soul over bodily concerns. Through stories on prasadam and detachment, he said that listeners come to the Katha not by body but by the calling of their soul.
Referring to Bhola Nath Ji of Jabalpur, he said that Thakur Ji resides only where there is no envy. He appealed to all to read something new daily, study the lives of saints and devotees, and learn continuously, as this reduces suffering and deepens one’s understanding of life.
