Sagar Watch News/ In a powerful commentary on current social trends, international spiritual preacher Pt. Indresh Upadhyay told the gathering that today’s generation is drifting due to distraction, ego, and excessive dependence on mobile phones — the “demon of Kalyug.”
His remarks were made during the fourth day of the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, held at the Shri Siddh Kshetra Balaji Mandir premises in Dharm Shri Ambedkar Ward, and hosted by Chief Yajman Smt. Anushree Shailendra Jain and MLA Sagar.
The celebrations reached their peak with the vibrant Krishna Janmotsav and Nandotsav, where the crowd swelled so massively that the pandal had to be expanded.
Even then, thousands stood outside, singing and dancing to bhajans. Maharaj Ji stepped down from the Vyasa Peeth and walked onto a specially created ramp to meet devotees, who joyfully participated in Dahi-Handi with him.
Highlighting human behaviour shaped by rajo-gun, tamo-gun and sattva-gun, Pt. Upadhyay explained the difference between invitation and summons, saying: “Nimtran is optional, but Aamantran must be honoured.”
He reminded devotees that humans are only “tenants in God’s home,” and only sincere devotion brings fulfilment. On the increasing influence of mobile phones on youth, he said, “The demon of Satyayuga is Ravana, the demon of Dwapar is Kansa, and the demon of Kaliyuga is the mobile phone.”
Referring to the Corona pandemic, he said that during that difficult time, the truth of relationships was revealed, and many people abandoned their own parents.
Addressing the youth, he said, “Life itself is an examination. If you absorb the message of the Katha, you will never lose direction.” He advised young people to listen to spiritual teachings for 15 minutes daily with full concentration.
Among the key teachings he emphasised:
-
True conduct is rare; moral behaviour must guide life.
-
Knowledge, devotion, and good conduct are superior to monetary charity.
-
Thoughts and emotions outlive physical beauty — inner beauty is eternal.
-
Mobile addiction is the demon of the modern age.
-
During COVID-19, the real nature of relationships was revealed.
He stressed that compassion should arise from understanding a person’s heart, not their condition, and encouraged everyone to spend time in solitude daily to introspect and refine their inner self.
