On the occasion of World Radio Day, students of the Department of Communication and Journalism at Dr. Harisingh Gour University visited Akashvani Sagar under the guidance of faculty members Dr. Aleem Ahmad Khan and Dr. Vivek Jaiswal.

The program in charge, Deepak Nishad introduced the session and spoke in detail about the relevance of radio as a powerful communication medium. He described radio as a cultural and historical platform that continues to hold significance even in the rapidly evolving digital age.

Emphasizing the role of Artificial Intelligence, he said that while AI can assist media professionals, it should be used carefully and sensitively, and not as a complete substitute for human creativity and judgment.

Senior announcer Jai Shekhar interacted with the students and introduced them to the “world of voice.” He highlighted that radio is purely an audio medium, where an effective and impactful voice helps reach a large audience and build a distinct identity.

Sharing his personal struggles and professional experiences, he encouraged students to keep learning despite challenges. He advised aspiring announcers and FM RJs to stay away from addictions such as tobacco, alcohol, and smoking, and to focus on regular practice, correct pronunciation, pitch, and modulation. He also cautioned against speaking in excessively loud DJ-style formats.

Marking World Radio Day 2026 and the completion of 90 years of Akashvani, a quiz competition was also organized for students. Deepak Nishad and Jai Shekhar addressed students’ queries practically and encouragingly, boosting their confidence.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of the radio station, where around 50 undergraduate, postgraduate students and research scholars gained hands-on exposure to the functioning and technical processes of radio broadcasting. The faculty members expressed gratitude to the entire staff of Akashvani Sagar for their support and cooperation.
