SAGAR WATCH/ The Superintendent of Police, Sagar, Tarun Nayak, will be presented with the President's Award for Gallantry on the occasion of Independence Day, August 15. This award will be presented to him in the main function of Bhopal organized on the occasion of 15th August.
He is being given this award for the leadership of his team members and display of indomitable valour and courage during the encounter with Naxalites of the then Commandant Hawk Force, without caring for their own lives. The announcement of the award of the Police Medal for Gallantry was made by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
It is noteworthy that during the posting of the then Commandant Hawk Force District Balaghat, on the night of 9 and 10 July 2019, on the information received about the members of Naxal Dalam going to village Pujartaula, the force was instructed to conduct a search operation and surrender to the Maoists of Naxal Dalam leading the party. Called for Due to this, the Naxalites tried to escape by firing indiscriminately at the police parties. Two rewarded Naxalites were killed in this encounter with the police.
