Sagar Watch News/ At Dr. Harisingh Gour University, the Department of Fine Arts and Performing Arts organized a lecture under its Research Methodology Series on the topic Research Ethics: Academic Visibility.” 

The session was conducted by Dr. Mahendra Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Library and Information Science.

Dr. Kumar began by explaining that the objective of the lecture was to help students and researchers understand the importance of ethics in research and explore ways to enhance academic visibility

He emphasized that research ethics is not merely about following rules but about adopting a value-based approach that strengthens the growth of knowledge in society.

The speaker discussed academic misconduct, such as plagiarism and data fabrication, in detail and explained how they can be avoided. 

He also introduced students to the UGC’s 2018 Plagiarism Regulations, highlighting their significance for maintaining academic integrity.

In the second part of the lecture, Dr. Kumar focused on academic visibility. He explained how teachers and researchers can increase the global reach of their research by updating their profiles on open-access platforms. 

Quoting a popular saying, “What is seen, is sold,” he illustrated the importance of having active profiles on platforms like Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and ORCID, and improving citation indices.

Towards the end, Dr. Kumar answered questions from teachers, research scholars, and students, making the session interactive and insightful. 

The event was attended by Department Head Dr. Balwant Singh Bhadoriya, coordinator Dr. Suprabha Das, Mr. Amitesh Kumar Pandey, and other academic experts.

Concluding the program, Dr. Suprabha Das expressed her hope that the lecture would inspire research students to value honesty, clarity, and dedication in their academic work. Dr. Bhadoriya extended thanks to all the guests, faculty, and students for their participation.

This lecture was highly beneficial for students as it provided them with a clear understanding of how ethical practices form the foundation of credible research. 

It also helped them learn practical ways to make their academic contributions more visible at the global level.
