Talk Of The Town
In a move aimed at simplifying procedures for organisers, the government has eased the process for obtaining permission to serve liquor during business-oriented programmes and events where entry is allowed on payment of a prescribed fee. The decision is expected to bring greater clarity and compliance among event organisers while ensuring regulation under excise laws.
Sagar Watch News/ As per the latest instructions, organisers of commercial programmes or events—where entry is granted on payment—must obtain the relevant licence (FL-5) to permit consumption of liquor during the event. The licence is mandatory and must be obtained through the e-Excise portal before organising the programme.
Officials informed that details regarding the prescribed licence fee are available on the e-Excise portal. Organisers may also contact the District Excise Office, Sagar, for guidance and information related to the FL-5 licence and the application process.
The administration has made it clear that conducting such programmes or events without obtaining the requisite FL-5 licence will invite strict action under the provisions of the Excise Act. Authorities have warned that violations will not be tolerated and legal action will be initiated against defaulters in accordance with the law.
