Sagar Watch News/ Renowned theater and film actor Govind Namdev is all set to stage a play focusing on the changing roles of women in the Bundelkhand region.
Having completed 50 years in the field of theater, film actor Govind Namdev told Sagar-Watch in an exclusive interview that there is no dearth of talent in Bundelkhand; they just need a platform to showcase it.
The actor is currently training participants in a 35-day workshop organized by the Rang Theatre Forum in Sagar, in collaboration with the National School of Drama, New Delhi, and the Directorate of Culture.
He said that at the end of the workshop, his play, "Bundeli Dharti Ka Hindola," will be staged at Ravindra Bhavan in Sagar for three days with five shows. This play is based on the condition of women in Bundelkhand.
The play will be presented from the perspective of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, with the workshop participants acting in it. The aim is to promote and hone the talent of the Bundelkhand region.
25 participants are taking part in this workshop. He said that children are progressing by connecting with theater. This workshop is being held in a bungalow near Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1.
The children participating in it are from Bundelkhand as well as other parts of the state. They will be introduced to the nuances of theater, and training will be given, focusing on various aspects of dramatic art to prepare budding artists for professional theater.
Senior theater artist Mr. Namdev, a resident of Sagar, joined the National School of Drama, New Delhi, in 1975. During that time, he also acted in the play "Varnam Van" under the direction of B.B. Karanth.
Later, the play "Begum Ka Takiya" was also staged in Sagar at the end of a workshop directed by Mr. Karanth. Mr. Namdev officially started his career with the staging of the play "Surya Ki Antim Kiran Se Surya Ki Pehli Kiran Tak."
