Sagar Watch News/ Dr. Harisingh Gour University marked the conclusion of the 150th birth anniversary year of Bhagwan Birsa Munda by celebrating Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas with a series of tributes and reflections on his legacy.
Speaking at the event, Coordinator Prof. Keshav Tekam emphasized nature-nurtured human development and highlighted Birsa Munda’s movement as a cultural, social and economic resistance against exploitation.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Y. S. Thakur described Birsa Munda as a great revolutionary who fought both British rule and social evils, including leading a strong campaign for prohibition.
He urged students to limit mobile phone usage and thanked the Tribal Affairs Ministry for institutionalizing the national celebration.
Chief Guest Prof. Sakharam Mujalde noted that Birsa Munda is the only martyr revered as a deity and proposed establishing a Tribal Studies Centre at the university.
Special guests Prof. D. K. Nema and Prof. Ajit Jaiswal stressed that Birsa Munda’s life symbolizes the fight against injustice and the transformative power of education.
Registrar Dr. S. P. Upadhyay announced initial steps toward setting up the proposed Tribal Studies Centre. Faculty members, researchers and students attended the programme.
Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025
Sagar: The Computer Science and Engineering team “Disaster X” from the University Institute of Engineering and Technology has been selected for the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025, organized under the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE.
The team—Akhlesh Ahirwar, Krishna Kumar Sahu, Om Kumar, Prince, Shan Chaubey and Riya Jha—earned their place in the finale among 13,91,884 participants from institutions across the country who submitted innovative solutions.
