Dr. Harisingh Gaur University, Sagar has got the first position in the four-day AIU West Zone Handball (Men) competition held from 10 to 13 January.

While the second position was achieved by Rajasthan University, Jaipur, the third position was achieved by Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior, and the fourth position was achieved by Kota University, Kota.

The prize distribution program took place in the closing ceremony organized at Abdul Ghani Khan Stadium of the University. Vice Chancellor of Dr. Hari Singh Gour University presented trophies to the teams and sent her best wishes to them. The conclusion of the competition was announced by hoisting the flag of All India University Association, New Delhi and the university.

At the conclusion of the program, the Vice Chancellor prof.Neelima Gupta congratulated the university team for securing first position in the men's handball competition in the West Zone for the first time after 13 years and said that it is a matter of pride for the entire Sagar. 

On the same occasion, she said that under the Fit India campaign, under the inspiration of the Prime Minister, the university's proposal has been accepted by HEFA to promote sports facilities like synthetic track and swimming pool in the university. Under which, efforts will be made to make the sports facilities of national level by constructing a synthetic track and swimming pool in the university soon.

The program was conducted by Mahendra Batham and gratitude was expressed by Dr. Suman Patel. Apart from Vinay Shukla, representative of All India University Association, New Delhi, university teachers Rakesh Soni, Rajendra Yadav, Himanshu Yadav, Ashutosh Mishra, Vivek Jaiswal, Rajneesh, Bhupendra Patel, prominent citizens of the city, officers, employees and students were present.

 Third Day

Qualifying matches of all four pools were played on the third day. The team of Dr. Harisingh Gaur University qualified for the All India Competition by winning by 21-16 goals.

League matches will be played between the four qualified teams on 13 January 2024 from 8 am. After the match, the closing ceremony of the competition will be held in the presence of the Vice Chancellor of the University.

Score Board

1- First Match played between Dr. Harisingh Gaur VV Sagar V/S Jai Narayan Vyas VV Udaipur,

Winner-  Dr. Harisingh Gaur VV Team won by 21-16 goals and qualified for the All India University Competition. 


2- Match played between Kota VI V/S RTM Nagpur, 

Winner-Kota won by 36-28 goals and qualified for the last four.

3- Match played between Rajasthan University, Jaipur V/S Parul University, 

Winner- Rajasthan University won by 32-24 goals and made it to the last four.


4- Match Played between LNIPE Gwalior V/S Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar University 

Winner- LNIPE team managed to make it to the last four by winning by 38-35 goals.

In the match held on the second day of the AIU-West Regional Inter University Handball (Men) Competition organized under the aegis of the Physical Education Department of Dr. Harisingh Gaur University, teams from many universities won and entered the next round. The team of Dr. Harisingh Gaur University has entered the pre-qualifying by winning the match.

   Matches will be played on 12 January 2024 at 8:00 AM.

The information about the matches played today is as follows.

1- It was played between LNIP Gwalior v/s Gujarat University

Winner- Gwalior won by 30-11 goals and entered the next round.

2- Played between Purnima University Jaipur v/s Public University Surat 

Winner- Public University won 7-16 and entered the next round.

3- Played between MSBU Bharatpur v/s Chhindwara University 

Winner- Bharatpur University won by 30-24.

4- Kota was played between VI v/s RR VI and Alwar 

Winner- Alwar won by 20-32 goals.

5- KSU Gandhinagar v/s Junagadh University was played 

Winner- Gandhinagar won by 25-15 goals.

6- Devi Ahilya V/s Indore v/s Sikar VV was played 

Winner- Indore won by 36-28 goals.

7- Parul University Gujarat v/s Mohan Lal Sukhadia University Udaipur was played 

Winner- Parul University won 37-18.

8- Dr. Harisingh Gour University Sagar v/s KSV Gujarat was played 

Winner-Dr. Harisingh Gour University won by 25-18 goals and entered the fourth round.

9- Kota VI v/s Shivaji University Kolhapur was played 

Winner-  Kota VI won by 32-31.

10-Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar University v/s Savitri Bai Phule was played 

Winner- Sambhaji Nagar won by 43-29 goals.

11- Surajmal University was played between Bharatpur v/s Swarnim Gujarat 

Winner- Swarnim Gujarat won 19-34 and entered the next round.

All India University West (AIU) West Zone Handball (Men) competition started at Abdul Ghani Khan Stadium, Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar.

The competition, which ran from 10 to 13 January, started with garlanding of the statue of Dr. Gaur by the guests. The players took part in the parade with the flag of their university accompanied by the Indian Army Band. Sports oath was administered to all the participants by the guests.

International hockey player, coach and 'Chak De India' fame Mir Ranjan Negi attended the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. On that occasion, while addressing the participating players, he said that in sports one loses, wins and loses again. This victory and defeat continues. But sportsmanship teaches everything in life. It is a mirror of a person's life. Sports teaches us life skills as well as discipline in life.

He narrated many memorable stories related to the Afro Asian Games. Also sharing many memories of the making of the film Chak De India, he said that in real life we trained girls who had never held a hockey stick.

While presiding over the program, the Vice Chancellor in-charge encouraged all the players and inspired them to perform better with sportsmanship.

The program was conducted by Dr. Suman Patel and vote of thanks was expressed by Mahendra Batham. On this occasion, teachers Ashish Verma, Utsav Anand, Subhash Hardikar, Monica Hardikar, Anwar Khan, Dr. Manoj Jain, Dr. Rakesh Soni, Rajendra Yadav, Himanshu Yadav, Ashutosh Mishra, Vivek Jaiswal, Virendra, Rajneesh, Naveen, Bhupendra Patel. District Sports Officer Pradeep Abhadra, social worker Binu Rana, sports coach Vinay Shukla, many teachers of the university, prominent citizens of the city, officers, employees, students were present.


The list of matches played and winners in the first phase of the competition is as follows-

  1- Played between LNIPE Gwalior v/s JN Vyas University Jodhpur.

 LNIPE team won and entered the next round.

2-Played between Gujarat Technological University v/s Sunrise University Alwar.

 Gujarat Technological University won.

3- Played between SRTM VV Nanded v/s Jiwaji VV Gwalior. 

In which NANDED won.

4- Played between Sant Gadge Baba Amravati v/s RR V Gandhinagar Gujarat 

in which Amravati won.

5- Saurashtra University was played between Rajkot v/s Govind Guru University and Banswara 

in which Saurashtra University won.

6 - Gujarat VV v/s Pacific VV Udaipur,

 in which Pacific won.

7- Punyashlok was played between Ahilya Devi University Solapur v/s Maulana Azad University Jodhpur 

in which Punyashlok University won.

8- University Mumbai v/s Bhagwan Mahavir was played between V and Surat 

in which Mumbai won.

9- Between Maharaja Surajmal Braj University Bharatpur V/s Bhupal Novels University and Udaipur.

 Bharatpur University won.

10- Savitri Bai Phule was played between VV Pune v/s Maharaja Seojirao VV Baroda.

 Pune University won by 35-11 goals.

11- It was played between Sardar Patel University Gujarat v/s RRB University Alwar 

in which Alwar won by 16-3 goals.

12- Kota v/s APSU Rewa was played

 in which Kota won 23-10 and entered the next round.
