Sagar Watch News/ The Madhya Pradesh government will open 200 new Sandipani schools across the state and launch a rural transport service from Indore in April, School Education and Transport Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh announced on Sunday. He was addressing the second day of the three-day Rahas Mela in Garhakota.
Highlighting the state’s focus on strengthening public education, Singh said the government aims to transform government schools into high-quality institutions on par with private schools. He credited Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for accelerating development initiatives in the state.
As part of the expansion, 200 Sandipani schools will be established, including one in Rahli-Raipur in the Rahli Assembly constituency at a cost of ₹20 crore.
Additionally, a ₹20-crore Sandipani school was announced for Shahpur. Over two dozen schools in the Rahli constituency will receive more than ₹20 crore for renovation and construction of additional buildings.
The minister said the government has curbed migration of students from government to private schools by improving infrastructure and academic standards. Welfare measures such as distribution of scooters, bicycles, laptops, free textbooks, mid-day meals and scholarships are being provided to support students.
On the transport front, Singh announced that a rural transport service will begin from Indore in April and will gradually be expanded across the state to improve connectivity in remote areas.
Speaking at the event, senior MLA and former minister Gopal Bhargava said the Rahas Mela has evolved into a multi-purpose fair, delivering various government schemes under one roof.
During the event, the minister distributed benefit certificates to beneficiaries and assistive devices to persons with disabilities, along with announcing development projects worth crores of rupees for the region.
