Sagar Watch News/ A male tiger died due to suspected electrocution from an illegal electric wire, prompting swift action by the Forest Department, which secured the site, conducted a postmortem, and registered a forest offence case.
According to the South Sagar Divisional Forest Officer, the incident came to light on December 28, 2025, under the Dhana Forest Range. The tiger’s carcass was found on revenue land in village Hilgan, near Toriya Kher Mata Beat, Hilgan, approximately 2 km from Compartment PF-851.
Following SOP guidelines, the area was immediately cordoned off and searched with assistance from the canine squad of Veerangana Rani Durgavati Tiger Reserve.
A postmortem examination was conducted on December 29, 2025 by a team of expert wildlife veterinarians. All body parts of the tiger were found intact. During the examination, veterinarians indicated that the probable cause of death was electrocution. As per government SOPs, last rites were performed after the examination.
The entire process was photographed and videographed. Further action will be taken upon receipt of the detailed postmortem report. A forest crime case has been registered, and investigation is ongoing.
