 Promoting the use of Hindi in daily official work is a shared responsibility of all central government offices, public enterprises, and banks. 

This was the central message during the second half-yearly meeting (2025-26) of the Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti (Town Official Language Implementation Committee) held in Sagar. 

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Yashwant Singh Thakur, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Harisingh Gour University and Chairman of NARAKAS, Sagar.

🔹 Key Highlights:

  • Collective Effort for Hindi Implementation:
    Prof. Thakur urged all officials to consider the use of Hindi a moral duty and to make collective efforts to ensure the effective implementation of the official language policy.

  • Policy Based on Motivation & Encouragement:
    Shri Narendra Singh Mehra, Deputy Director (Implementation), Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, highlighted that the central policy focuses on “motivation and encouragement” rather than enforcement. He expressed confidence that under Prof. Thakur’s leadership, NARAKAS, Sagar would become a leading committee in the country.

  • Regular Monitoring Essential:
    Shri Santosh Sohgaura, Member Secretary and Joint Registrar of the University, emphasized the need for continuous review of progress reports and adherence to the annual Hindi program issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. He encouraged the timely submission of progress data and contributions for the NARAKAS magazine.

  • Three institutions were honored for outstanding contributions:

    Shri Santosh Sohgaura was also felicitated for receiving recognition from the Madhya Pradesh Government and District Administration for excellence in administrative service and Hindi implementation.

  • Cultural Highlights:
    Students from the University’s Music Department presented captivating musical performances that received widespread acclaim.

About the Committee:

NARAKAS-(Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti), Sagar, formed by the Department of Official Language, acts as a collective platform for central offices, banks, and public sector bodies in the region to coordinate Hindi language implementation activities. 

Over 40 organizations, including LIC, BSNL, FCI, PowerGrid, and Indian Banks, participated in the meeting.

The session reinforced that effective use of Hindi in official work not only aligns with policy but also strengthens cultural identity and administrative efficiency.
