In a remarkable display of talent and creativity, the Sagar team’s outstanding participation and achievement at the state-level Kala Utsav highlighted the importance of nurturing young artists and promoting social awareness through art.

The two-day state-level Kala Utsav, organized at Bal Bhavan, Bhopal, under the aegis of the School Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, featured vibrant performances across 12 art categories from all divisions of the state. Selected young artists from each division showcased their artistic skills, captivating audiences with their expressive presentations.

Initiated in 2015 by the Government of India to promote children’s artistic development, Kala Utsav has become a platform for young talent to express their creativity. This year’s edition concluded with the same enthusiasm, witnessing remarkable participation across multiple art forms.

The Sagar division emerged as a top performer, securing the first position in theatre and instrumental music (solo string category). In instrumental music, Ekansh Bhatt won first place for his outstanding solo performance.

The theatrical presentation Madirasur by Government Excellence Higher Secondary School, Sagar, stole the spotlight at the Bhopal stage. The play, addressing the growing menace of substance abuse, delivered a strong message of de-addiction and social reform

Amid thunderous applause, the young performers won the audience’s hearts with their compelling acting and impactful storytelling.

Guided by Principal Sudhir Tiwari and Kala Utsav in-charge Dr. Shivani Tamrakar, the play was written and directed by Dr. Santosh Sahu, a former university professor. Music was composed by Veer Saini, with art design and co-direction by Jagdish Lariya.

The lead roles were portrayed by:

  • Daksh Chaudhary as Madirasur

  • Kartik Mishra as Tharra

  • Lakshya Kushwaha as Jardasur

  • Chandrakant Patel as Narrator

Divisional Joint Director of Public Education Mrityunjay Kumar praised the team’s achievement, assuring continued support for such talented young artists. Divisional Nodal Officer, Cultural Cell, Dr. Manoj Srivastava, emphasized that the play not only brought pride to the state but also spread a vital message of social responsibility across the nation.

Following its state-level victory, the play Madirasur is set to be performed on the Pune stage this November, as the Sagar team continues its preparations to represent Madhya Pradesh at the national level.
