Bus operators transporting flammable materials such as petrol, diesel, kerosene, acid, and firecrackers will now be in trouble. Explosive or incendiary materials found in buses will result in the loss of their bus licenses.

The Regional Transport Officer, Sagar, along with a team, arrived at the government and private bus stands in Sagar and inspected the passenger buses parked there.

The inspection primarily focused on passenger safety, including emergency doors, fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, and other equipment. Passengers were also inspected for any items carried by passengers on the buses.

The drivers, conductors, helpers, and cleaners present at the scene were all gathered and strictly instructed that a 5- to 6-kg capacity fire extinguisher is mandatory in all vehicles. They were also briefed on how to use the extinguisher.

They were also informed that in an emergency, a fire extinguisher can be extinguished immediately with patience. During the inspection, four passenger buses were found to have seats installed in front of the emergency doors.

These seats were immediately removed, confiscated, and fines were imposed. Passenger buses parked unnecessarily for several hours in the bus stand premises were fined.

A total of 52 passenger buses were inspected, and a fine of ₹77,000 (in words) was collected from 27 passenger buses.

The Regional Transport Officer has instructed all vehicle owners to carry all valid vehicle documents, including insurance, fitness permits, registration cards, heavy duty driving license, tax certificate, and Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate, while operating their vehicles.

They should also remove the emergency door seats immediately before operating the vehicle. If seats are found installed in the emergency door during inspections, strict legal action will be taken.
