Major steps are being taken to ease traffic congestion and improve road safety in the city. Chairing the District Road Safety Committee meeting, Collector Sandeep G.R. directed officials to start traffic signals at Makronia Square, one of the busiest junctions facing severe traffic pressure.

He instructed that NCC cadets be deployed along with police personnel on all four sides of the square to ensure smooth traffic movement.

Key directives issued in the meeting:

  • Traffic Signals: Makronia Square to get functional signals soon to reduce jams.

  • One-Way Enforcement: Routes including Teen Batti, Kotwali, Moti Nagar, and Vijay Talkies to be strictly maintained as one-way.

  • Encroachment Removal: Strict action to be taken around the mosque area, Radha Talkies, Kirti Stambh, and Vijay Talkies stretches.

  • Parking Discipline: Vehicles parked outside the yellow line to be seized immediately.

  • Shopfront Regulations: Shopkeepers were warned against keeping goods outside their premises.

  • Awareness Drive: Under the state’s Rahveer Yojana, a public awareness campaign to promote quick medical aid and hospitalisation of accident victims will be launched.

The meeting was attended by CEO Zila Panchayat Vivek K.V., SP Lokesh Sinha, Traffic DSP Mahendra Singh, PWD officer Sahitya Tiwari, and other senior officials.

The Collector also appealed to shopkeepers and vehicle owners to cooperate, warning that legal action would be taken against violators.
