Sagar Watch News/ In a major initiative to improve healthcare in Sagar district, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla inaugurated a new 100-bed Women and Child Care Unit and an Integrated Public Health Lab at the District Hospital. He also participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for a Critical Care Unit at Bundelkhand Medical College.
He announced the establishment of a 200-bed cancer hospital in Sagar with an investment of ₹80 crore, modeled after Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. The hospital will have all modern facilities and eliminate the need for patients to travel to bigger cities like Delhi or Mumbai. Groundbreaking will be done by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav next month.
Shukla emphasized reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in Madhya Pradesh by improving rural healthcare, early pregnancy checkups, and better training for ASHA workers and medical officers.
He emphasized that doctors must work with dedication, as the government can provide infrastructure, but it is doctors who bring life to the system. He also mentioned that the government is recruiting over 30,000 medical and paramedical staff and incentivizing telemedicine.
Other dignitaries, including MPs, MLAs, and ministers, praised the government's commitment to making Sagar a healthcare hub and improving maternal and child health. The cancer hospital is seen as a milestone for the Bundelkhand region.
