Even after the city has become a smart city after an investment of several hundred crores of rupees, there are still government schools in the city where students are forced to sit on the floor and take board exams. In this regard, it would not be surprising if the situation in many other examination centers located far away from the headquarters is similar.

This came to light when the Collector, were inspecting various examination centers during the Class 10 question paper on Monday, found some Class 10 students sitting on the ground in Lal School, Gopalganj.

After this incident, the Collector immediately asked the SDM and the District Education Officer to check all the examination centers including Lal School, Gopalganj till evening. He also warned that if any candidate is found sitting on the ground and giving the examination, action will be taken against the concerned officials.

It is worth noting that before the commencement of the board examinations at 141 examination centers in the district, the District Magistrate had given strict instructions to the concerned officers to make all the arrangements.

But the officers did not take the matter seriously, due to which no one considered it necessary to convey to the District Magistrate the information about availability of tables and chairs for students to sit in this school located on the main road just below the Collectorate at the District Headquarters itself.

A separate representative of the Collector has been deployed at each examination centre. Despite all this, the condition of the examination centers seems to be poor.
