Bundelkhand's cultural legacy continues its proud march into Bollywood. The trend that began with lyricist Vithalbhai Patel, who penned the iconic “Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate” for Raj Kapoor’s Bobby, and later saw Akhlak Sagari contribute the soulful “Ishq Mein Hum Tumhe Kya Batayein” in Aaja Meri Jaan, now reaches a new peak with celebrated Sagar-based poet Ashok Mizaj.

Ashok Mizaj’s Poetry to Feature in “Gustakh Ishq

Mizaj's evocative verses will lend poetic resonance to the upcoming film Gustakh Ishq, where legendary actor Naseeruddin Shah will voice his lines. The movie, produced by renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra and directed by Vibhu Puri of Hawaizaada fame, is set to release on November 28. It stars Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Naseeruddin Shah, and Sharib Hashmi in lead roles.

Shah portrays a veteran poet in the film, and Mizaj’s couplets are intricately woven into key dialogues and emotional scenes. The recently released trailer reveals two compelling lines:
Gham koi dena hai toh de de mujhe, dil mein rakh lunga nishani ki tarah... in Shah’s voice, and Vijay Varma’s delivery of, Mera lehja cactus sa khurdura, teri baatein raatrani ki tarah...

Ashok Mizaj, a disciple of celebrated poet Bashir Badr, shared in a media interaction that this project marks his second collaboration with composer Vishal Bhardwaj, after their work on Sonchiriya in 2020. His artistic journey began in Sagar, where he was born in 1957 as Ashok Singh Thakur.

Despite a science background and a banking career that culminated in his retirement as a manager, Mizaj honed his passion for Urdu poetry, publishing 12 acclaimed ghazal collections and earning accolades such as the Taj Bhopali Award and Nishtar Khanqahi Award.

His works have been the subject of five doctoral research studies across prestigious institutions, including Central University of Jammu and Jamia Millia Islamia. Mizaj’s participation in Indo-Pak mushairas and national poetry forums has cemented his reputation as a powerful voice in modern ghazal writing.

With Gustakh Ishq, Mizaj’s literary prowess finds a new audience, marking yet another milestone in Bundelkhand’s cultural contribution to Indian cinema.

Movie Review:
By Manmauzi--

SagarWatch@ Though hundreds of films have been made in the Hindi film world, exposing the sinister nexus of police, politicians and criminals, but the film class of 83 is something else. The plot of the film dates back to the 80s of the last century from the years 1980 to 1983.

In which it has been shown in a very effective way that the training academies of police which are to a large extent the centre of posting of the officers are given as punishment in the community. Due to which the newly recruited officers and personnel have to learn departmental work culture amid the frustrated attitude of these officers.

Filmmaker Atul Sabharwal in his film which is based on the novel written by Hussain Zaidi, has exposed the black deeds of police, crime and politics that play an important role in the making of the country's police system work.

Vijay Singh (Bobby Deol) is appointed the dean of a similar police academy in Nashik due to the displeasure of a politician. Vijay Singh was always in discussions among the trainees of the training academy but was never seen.

The newly recruited sub-inspectors in the training academies do not see any more ruthless person than PT master in training. In the film, Mangesh (Vishwajeet Pradhan) is a similar PT master at Nashik's training academy whose troubled attitude leads to three trainees, Jadhav, Surve and Shukla (Ninad, Prayavik and Bhupendra) sneaking up at night to teach Mangesh his lesson. They enter the room, but the dean already there to beat them all.

The lies of the three trainees are exposed in the second day's class when Dean Vijay Singh takes the class himself. But after some time, instructor Mangesh tells Dean that these three mischievous trainees are lagging behind in traditional training.

Only then comes an idea in Vijay Singh's mind that the five who are proving to be laggards in traditional training have some different qualities. These five are number one in pursuing friendship and they have the power, to tell the truth, and are also brave and these things do not happen in the academics and artificial officers. The Dean plans to train his idea to wear it in a manner that can be used to liberate Bombay from the nexus of politics and crime.

Dean's friend Raghav (Zoy Sengupta), who was the state's police chief at the time, does not like his idea. He cries to Vijay that you could not make your son a police officer, you have lost your wife too. With what hope are you giving a chance for the laggards?

Vijay says that he is giving one more chance not for them but for himself. After this, these trainees start training according to the new type of curriculum and they join the police force of Mumbai.

In the eighties, workers' strike, closure mills and smuggling mafia in Mumbai have shown a phase of politics. In which these officers soon make a different identity due to training. But unlike what was expected, these people start playing the encounter at the behest of the mafia.

Meanwhile, Vijay Singh is once again entrusted with the command of Mumbai and he again takes up his age-old unfinished objective. Is he able to succeed in this and can his trainee officers be able to stand by him? To know all this, you have to watch this film, which is, of course, available only on the OTT platform (Netflix), because theatres are closed due to the COVOID-19 pandemic.

In the era of Corona epidemic, everyone is getting new experience of watching films at home instead of theatre. Generally, when watching a film at home, people do more than one interval than watching a movie in the theatre, But the speciality of this film is that once you start watching it, it may happen that you don't even think of doing the traditional sole intermission.

The film is amazing, Bobby Deol has worked so hard in his character that he looked better than other actors in terms of acting. Looking at Bobby Deol in earlier films, it is not possible that there was such a depth of acting in him. He plays the character of a fearless police officer, dear to the principle, with a lot of vitality. The story of the film is very interesting and worth watching.
