Sagar Watch News /Bhopal: Even as Madhya Pradesh prides itself as India’s “Tiger State,” the deaths of big cats continue to raise alarm. A 35-month-old tiger was found dead in the core area of Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve in Sagar district, triggering panic among forest officials.

The animal had been relocated from Kanha Tiger Reserve in January. Notably, another tiger carcass was recovered in December from Sagar’s South Forest Division, intensifying concerns over wildlife protection and management lapses.

A tiger was found dead on February 15 at around 5:30 pm in Compartment No. 159 of the Manegaon Beat under the Mohli range in the core area of Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve.

According to the Divisional Forest Officer, the tiger had been radio-collared and released into the core forest on the night of January 18–19 and was under constant monitoring.

After its location remained stationary for two days, officials discovered the carcass. Further investigation and postmortem will follow NTCA protocol.
