Sagar Watch News/
The Nagar Nigam’s new water tax rates have made quite a splash — though residents say they’re still waiting for
actual water to splash from their taps. While bills are going up, many allege that their taps are running on “alternate-day, half-pressure mode,” and that leaks and overflowing lines continue to waste water faster than it can reach homes.

Social media, as always, overflowed before the tanks did. One user quipped, “We’re paying for water yoga — we do pranayam while waiting for the tap to breathe!” Another Citizen Kailash Tiwari joked, “Our pipeline leaks more than the government’s promises.”

Residents say it’s ironic that while the Nagar Nigam hasn’t managed to fix leaking pipelines or unattended Tata lines, it has managed to fix higher rates.

“First stop the water wastage, then raise the rates,” said a shopkeeper, Mahesh Agrawal, pointing at a roadside geyser of leaking water. “At this rate, the only thing that’ll flow smoothly in Sagar is the tax.”

The new rates might be effective from November 1, but citizens are hoping the actual supply becomes effective someday soon.
