In a major crackdown on fraudulent practices inside the court premises, Collector and District Magistrate Sandeep G.R. has ordered a sweeping investigation against individuals posing as notaries by displaying fake boards.

The probe was launched after repeated complaints that unauthorized persons were illegally charging the public under the guise of notary services.

The operation, led by City Magistrate Aarti Yadav, Tehsildar Sandeep Tiwari, and Secretary of the Notary Public Officers Association Shivdayal Raju Badoniya, exposed several tables with “Notary” boards but no legitimate notaries in sight.

When questioned, individuals present failed to provide valid licenses or documents and fled from the spot. Their names and phone numbers were recorded, and notices will be issued directing them to appear with the necessary documentation.

City Magistrate Yadav revealed that in most cases, the people present claimed to be clerks of advocates, yet could not produce any authorization. “The list of suspected fake notaries is being compiled and will be submitted to the Collector for legal action,” she confirmed.

According to District Bar Association President Jitendra Singh Thakur, while Sagar Court has 22 state-registered and 35 central-registered notaries, the number of notary boards operating in the complex is far higher, suggesting a widespread racket.  He directed all registered notaries to display their licenses and ensure their authorized representatives are properly identified.

Collector Sandeep G.R. has appealed to the public to avail services only from registered notaries and report any suspicious activities. “The dignity of the court must be protected. Anyone illegally using a notary’s name will face strict legal action,” he declared
