Sagar Watch News/ Under the Public Distribution System (PDS), eligible beneficiaries in the state will now receive more wheat, fulfilling a long-standing demand.
According to Madhya Pradesh's Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Minister, Recently State Government has recently received approval from the central government.
The new distribution ratio will allocate 75% wheat and 25% rice to beneficiaries, replacing the previous 60:40 ratio. The change addresses the practical issue that the majority of the state's population consumes more wheat than rice.
State's Food Minister raised this concern with Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal, and within a week, the central government agreed.
The Food Minister has also highlighted the problem of surplus rice, which is often sold at low prices or misused in the market. This shift is seen as more effective and transparent, ensuring that beneficiaries receive food in line with their needs, particularly as wheat is abundantly available in the state.
